Spartan Shorts: Coach Josh Dzurick's crew, improving to 7-15 overall and 6-9 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, opened its week by wrapping up a season sweep of league foe Anderson University Feb. 7. Sophomore guard Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.) posted 15 points to lead four Spartans in double figures and aid the Black and Gold into tying Mt. St. Joseph University for fifth place on the loop standings … The principal reason behind Weaver's leading the Spartans in scoring, assists, and steals has been consistency. She's dished off at least one assist in 20 of 22 contests, picked off a steal in 18 of 22 appearances and finished with double-digit points in all but five outings … Junior guard Faith-Alexis Graham (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore guard Haley Farris (Sharpsville, Ind.) join their sophomore teammate in forming a robust trio for opponents to handle. Graham's averaging better than 11 points and four rebounds over the last three games, while Farris has dished out at least one assist in 18 straight contests, grabbed five-or-more rebounds 15 times, and has seen her season scoring average climb three-tenths due to posting 12.5 points over her last two appearances.
