HARSH LEADS RAMAPO IN LOSS AT RUTGERS-CAMDEN

Camden, NJ: The Rutgers Camden University women's basketball team held on for a 58-51 NJAC win at home over Ramapo College. The Scarlet Raptors improve to 14-8 overall, 11-5 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 6-17 overall, 3-13 in the conference.

The Scarlet Raptors opened up the game on an 8-0 run as Michelle Obasi collected four of the eight points. Bridgette Buckalew snapped the run with a pair of free throws for Ramapo to get on the board 8-2 before Jessica Repasy added a jumper to cut the lead in half 8-4. Rutgers-Camden took their biggest lead in the first quarter when Jordan Harbaugh nailed a three-pointer to take a 15-6 lead with under two minutes to play in the first. Buckalew and Allie Wickersheim hit back-to-back jumpers for Ramapo cutting the lead to five with 20 second on the clock 15-10 in favor of the Scarlet Raptors before Obasi scored the final basket of the quarter with a jumper to take a 17-10 lead into the second. Rutgers-Camden led by seven with 5:40 on the clock before Ramapo used two mini runs to tie the game 27-27 with under two minutes to play. Following a three-pointer from Gabby Greene, Jina Crawford started a 6-0 run for the Roadrunners that was capped off by a jumper from Repasy to tie the game at 27. Shane Holmes put in a basket for Rutgers-Camden to go into the locker room up 29-27 at halftime.

The third quarter was dominated by the Scarlet Raptors as they outscored Ramapo 15-5. Repasy scored with two seconds left in the quarter that started an 7-0 run which extended into the fourth quarter as they cut the lead to seven 44-37. Holmes snapped the run with a three-pointer off a pass from Obasi to take back a ten-point lead with 8:32 left to play. Back-to-back three-pointers from Holmes and Greene extended the Scarlet Raptor lead to 50-37 before the Roadrunners used an 8-0 lead of their own to come within five with 2:25 left to play in the game 50-45. In the final two minutes of action the Scarlet Raptors held Ramapo to just six points as they held on for a 58-51 win.

Harsh led the Roadrunners with a double-double, her sixth of the season, and her sixth game in the last seven with ten or more points. She posted ten points and ten rebounds while Wickersheim and Repasy also added ten points. Tia Solomon led the way with 11 rebounds and three blocks while Repasy grabbed eight rebounds of her own. The team shot 34% (19-55) from the field, 20% (2-10) from the three-point line and 84% (11-13) from the free throw line.

Harbaugh led the way for the Scarlet Raptors with 13 points including three three-pointers while Obasi added 12 points and a team high nine rebounds. Greene added 11 points while Cara Racobaldo posted eight rebounds and three points. The team shot 35% (20-57) from the field, 33% (7-21) from the three-point line and 61% (11-18) from the free throw line. The Scarlet Raptors forced 22 Ramapo turnovers that led to 25 points for Rutgers-Camden.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 10th when they travel to New Jersey City University for a 1pm NJAC conference game.
