Alge's Double-Double Not Enough For Yeshiva Against Farmingdale State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to Farmingdale State, 81-39, at the Nold Hall Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams (9-10, 8-4 Skyline) scored the first six points of the game and never looked back.

The Maccabees (4-12, 2-8 Skyline) were led by senior forward Michal Alge, who notched her 10th double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. The Boston resident also blocked four shots and forced three steals.

Junior guard Nicole Bick reached double-figures in scoring with 10 points, while bringing down six boards, and distributing a pair of assists. Freshman guard Leah Shulman produced seven points, forced a pair of steals, and had just as many dimes.

 Freshman forward Celia Cohen and classmate Lindsay Brandwein each scored two points and brought down three caroms, with the former forcing three steals. Sophomore guard Laura Betesh had five rebounds of her own to go along with two points, while senior forward Chavi Charlap had one 2-point field goal and two assists. Freshman forward Nechama Dembitzer hit a free throw to go along with two boards, while freshman guard Adina Rosenberg grabbed a rebound of her own.

For the Rams, Essence Casey had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Kaelyn Ward scored a game-high 19 points, with eight rebounds, and led all players with six steals. Liz Durchhalter had 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Farmingdale State head coach Chris Mooney earned his 300th career win.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a Skyline contest at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
