            ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick was defeated by visiting St. John Fisher 62-54 on Friday night at Lambros Arena in an Empire 8 Conference battle. 'Wick slips to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8 with the result. St. John Fisher improves to 10-5 and 5-1.

            Mary Schoenherr (Unionville, CT/Farmington) led the Hawks with 14 points. She added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Kelly Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) contributed a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Carly Johnson (Greenville, NY/Greenville Central) scored nine points with Caitlin Corbett (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) netting eight. Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY/South Kortright) scored seven points, grabbed a game-high five steals, and pulled down four boards. Victoria Sacramone (Bayside, NY/St. Mary's) netted six points.

            Caroline Robertson poured in a game-high 27 points for the Cardinals. She was the only player in double digits for the visitors.

            The Hawks would lead 14-11 after the first quarter of play. The Cardinals out-scored 'Wick 15-11 in the second period to go in front, 26-25, at the half. Schoenherr scored eight points in the first half for the Hawks. Robertson scored 16 for Fisher.

            Fisher used a 12-2 run to start the third quarter to move ahead, 38-27. The Hawks trimmed the margin to five but the Cardinals built the lead back up to 12 before settling on a 46-38 lead heading into the final quarter.

            Hartwick closed the lead to four, 58-54, with just under a minute remaining. The Hawks, however, didn't register another point the rest of the way and the Cardinals closed out the game with four straight points from the free-throw line.

            The Hawks shot 35% for the game. Fisher was slightly better making 38%. The Cardinals had the advantage on the glass, 43-32.

            Hartwick hosts Nazareth tomorrow at 5 p.m.
