Hunter Downs Baruch in CUNYAC Action

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 75-64 to the Hawks of Hunter College on Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex uptown.

The visiting Bearcats led after the first period, 19-15, but the Hawks rallied back in the second period and broke a tie at 28 by scoring the final seven points for a 35-28 halftime advantage.

The Hawks kept the momentum by growing the lead to as much as 23 points (60-37) after the third period.

The Bearcats did not go quietly and went on a furious rally that enabled them to cut the deficit to six (67-61) after a pair of free throws by Emma Price with 2:17 left.

Hunter would quickly battle back to score the next five points to walk away with the home victory.  

Daniela Arias was tops in the scoring chart with 19 points and three steals. Melinda Spahiu (14 rebounds) and Shannon Barrett (10 rebounds) each tallied 14 points.

Ashley Arias led the hosts with a double-double of 15 points and 18 rebounds.
