After trading baskets early, a layup from Madisyn Fischer at the 6:32 mark of the first handed Benedictine a 6-4 lead and the team would lead nearly the remainder of the contest
D'Asia Williams scored all eight points in a run to turn a first quarter lead of 9-8 into a 17-8 edge with 3:19 left in the quarter
Marian scored the final five points to pull within 17-13 after one and opened the second with a bucket to pull within 17-15
The hosts were again able to pull within a point at 24-23 with 3:03 left in the second but Benedictine led 29-24 at the half
The pace slowed in the third quarter as the teams exchanged baskets and combined for just 16 points as Benedictine took a 38-32 lead into the final quarter
Marian grabbed a brief 44-43 lead with 4:16 to go, but Benedictine netted four straight on baskets from Venita Parsons and Georgia Alexakos to go up 47-44 and hold on for the final two minutes to claim a second straight conference decision
