ALPINE, Texas - Outscoring Sul Ross State University 40-24 in the second half, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team ran off with a 74-48 win to improve their record to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. This is the first time the NCAA Division III era that ETBU has the season 6-0. ETBU's last 6-0 start came in the 1997-98 season. It's also the first time this season that ETBU has reached 70+ points in a game.

Childress also led the team in assists with four along with Madison McCoy, who also shared a game-high three steals with Baylie Lindsey. Katy Boren started the game with a three-pointer for ETBU just ten seconds into the game. After a Lobos three by Latin (8:48) tied the game at three, neither team would score for nearly two-and-a-half minutes until Sydney Saxton (6:27) broke the deadlock with a two-point jumper. SRSU would answer with five straight points by Gass to in a span of 35 seconds (5:54-5:29) to lead 8-5. ETBU retook the lead 9-8 with two Mallory Stephens free throws (5:17) and a Wilson jumper (4:26) connected only to have the Lobos grab their final lead at 10-9 (3:41). SRSU would then answer with three free throws to cut the lead to 28-24 with 4:25 left. This would be the closest SRSU would get for the remainder of the game. ETBU finished with six straight points on free throws by Wilson (4:04) and a layup by Brittney Jones (2:16) before Lindsey knocked a couple of free throws with six seconds left to lead 34-24 at halftime.

The common trend of ETBU being a second half team would continue as they raced out 20-7 run over five minutes that would prove to be the difference in the game. During the run, Childress and Wilson would combine for 10 points while Erin Meeks (8:40) and Mallory Stephens (5:09) each had two-point buckets. However, the Lobos finished with an 8-1 run for the final minutes to cut ETBU's lead to 55-39 after three quarters.

A Gass three-pointer for SRSU at 9:45 made it 55-42. The Lobos could not get any closer as ETBU answered with a 9-0 run (7:47-5:43) with Meeks contributing six points while McCoy added a jumper at 7:28 to push their lead to 64-42. A 5-2 run by the Lobos was all they could afford to answer as they would get as close as 19 points at 66-47 with 2:59 to go. The Tigers would finish with an 8-1 run on free throws by McCoy (2:53), four points from Childress (2:05, :28), and free throws by Boren (:05) as ETBU pulled away with a 74-48 win.
