Nor'easters roll Wentworth, 82-43

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Jocelyn Chaput registered a career-best 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field to lead the University of New England in an 82-43 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Thursday evening (Jan. 11) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Nor'easters (10-2, 6-0 CCC) have defeated the Leopards (1-12, 0-6 CCC) in each of the last 20 meetings between the squads.

UNE received 18 points out of Sam MacDonald and Olivia Shaw totaled 14. Both secured eight rebounds apiece as the hosts finished with a 57-41 advantage on the glass. After seven points from Ashley Coneys, eight other players found their way into the scoring column.

For Wentworth, Haley Sabino tallied 13 points and Erin Morton recorded 10.

WIT had a 4-2 edge less than two minutes into the contest, but by the end of the 1st quarter, UNE was ahead by a 24-8 margin. The spread grew to 25 (42-17) by halftime.

The Leopards were limited to just 23.6 percent field-goal accuracy on the night by the Nor'easters.

UNE will have a day of rest before entertaining Western New England University on Saturday (1 p.m.).
