GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College racked up 44 points in the paint and scored 32 points off turnovers to leave visiting Washington College far behind in a dominating 63-42 victory in Centennial Conference women's basketball action inside Bream Gym Saturday afternoon.
 
A well-balanced effort saw 10 players reach the scoring column for Gettysburg (5-0, 3-0 CC). Sophomore Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led the way with 14 points, while senior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) hit 5-of-6 shot attempts for 12 points. Meredith also dished out five assists and racked up a career-high five steals. Gettysburg finished with a season-high 13 thefts in the game.
 
The hosts never trailed as Meredith set the tone with a steal following the opening tip and Gehrin came down and converted a lay-up. The lead grew to double-figures (16-6) on a lay-up by sophomore Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) with 1:11 left in the opening frame.
 
After Washington (2-3, 1-2 CC) trimmed the deficit down to six (17-11) early in the second quarter, the Bullets busted out a 15-0 run to blow the game open. Gehrin accounted for seven points, including a lay-up which made it 32-11 with 4:08 left before the half. Gettysburg went into the break leading 37-18.
 
The Bullets padded the lead by hitting 9-of-15 field goals in the third quarter. A steal and face-break lay-up by senior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) set the advantage at a game-high 29 (54-25) with 3:49 left in the third period. The Gettysburg reserves handled all the action in the fourth quarter.
 
Gettysburg finished 27-fo-62 (43.5 percent) from the field, while holding Washington to 14-of-46 (30.4 percent). Washington finished with a 40-32 rebounding advantage, but the Bullets took full advantage with 32 points off 28 turnovers by the visitors.
 
Gibbons finished with eight points, five rebounds, and four assists. Dorshimer tacked in six points and Cesareo added seven tallies.
 
Alexis Krahling and Casidy Quattro each scored eight points for Washington.
