(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – For the eighth-straight game, the 10th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team crossed the century mark against Thiel College as it defeated the Tomcats 114-51 tonight (Wednesday, November 29, 2017) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center.
With the win, the Saints improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC. The Saints' streak of 100 points dates back to the 2013-14 season and during that stretch the Thomas More has averaged 110 points per game. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the PAC.
Thomas More shot 55.8 percent (43-of-77) from the field in the game and shot over 50 percent from the field in three of the four quarters as the shot 52.2 percent in the first (12-of-23), 54.5 percent in the third (12-of-22) and 92.9 percent in the fourth quarter (13-of-14). The Saints led 30-12 after one quarter, 55-15 at halftime and 84-36 after three quarters as it cruised to the 114-51 victory.
The Saints had a 56-8 advantage in the paint, 35-5 of turnovers, 16-8 on second chances, 12-0 on fast breaks and the Saints' bench had a 60-21 advantage on the Tomcats' bench. Thomas More forced 22 Tomcat turnovers.
All 13 Saints in uniform tonight reached the scoring column led by junior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) with a game-high 23 points and she pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for a double-double. Joining her in double-figure scoring was junior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) and first-year guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) with 12 points each and sophomore guard Taylor Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 11 points. Senior forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) pulled down 10 rebounds, while Rupp and sophomore forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) each had seven rebounds. Temple and first-year forward Maddie Boone (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) led the team in assists with four each, while Kiernan led the team in steals with three.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (December 2) when it travels to Bethany, West Virginia to play Bethany College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Hummel Field House.
