Wolves Earn 70-66 Victory over Medaille College

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team defeated Medaille College on Sunday afternoon at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center by the score of 70-66.

Keuka College (3-0) was led by Reighly Melochick (Millersville, Pa. / Millersville Area) with 21 points. Melochick also added a team-high eight rebounds. Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) added 16 points and Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) had eight assists to go with her 12 points.

Keuka College 70 vs. Medaille College 66

The Wolves took an early lead but Medaille tied it at 5-5. The Green and Gold went on a 12-0 run, highlighted by a four-point play, to take a 17-5 lead over the Mavericks. Medaille had a run of their own, but the Wolves remained ahead at the after the first quarter 22-18.

In the second quarter, Medaille worked the margin down to one-point at 24-23, but the Wolves quickly scored to widen the margin. In the quarter, Keuka shot 42% from the field, their best quarter of the game, to remain ahead. The Green and Gold scored 19 points in the half and led 41-32 at the half.

The Mavericks closed the third quarter with a five unanswered points. Overall, they outscored the Wolves 15-12 in the frame, but Keuka remained ahead 53-47 going into the fourth.

Keuka College quickly took a 10-point lead with a pair of layups to give Keuka a 57-47 lead. The Mavericks would not go away. With 3:17 left to play, Medaille came back and took a three-point lead at 65-62 with 3:17 left to play. Lauren Anten scored a layup in the next possession to cut the margin to one and then made another layup with 2:15 left to play to give Keuka at 66-65 lead. The Wolves did not look back as they defeated Medaille College 70-66 on Sunday.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves play at home on Tuesday, Novemeber 21 before going on Thanksgiving break. Keuka will host Alfred State at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center at 7pm. The Wolves defeated the Pioneers 55-54 in Alfred last season.
