Griffins Advance In The Postseason: Defeat Immaculata

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy will move on to the semifinal round of the 2017 Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament as the third-seeded Griffins smothered sixth-seeded Immaculata, 68-33, Monday evening at The Griffin Complex in a first-round matchup.

GMercyU now heads to second-seeded Neumann on Wednesday in a semifinal showdown. Game time is TBA.

Chyanne Fine totaled 12 points and eight rebounds and Charlotte Kucowski added 11 as the Griffins limited the Mighty Macs to a 12-of-55 (21%) shooting effort. Gwynedd had contributions from up and down the roster as a total of 15 different players scored at least a point.

Nicole Dombrowski filled out the stat sheet, registering nine points, eight rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.

Tamrya Laws had 10 points and 14 rebounds for IU (8-18), both team highs.

After a slow start for both teams in the first quarter, the Griffins started to find their groove in the second, shooting just over 47% in the period and outscoring IU, 22-9, to take a commanding 32-12 lead at halftime. GM would hold Immaculata to just five points in the third as their lead increased to 47-17 after three quarters of play.

Fine would add a pair of steals and an assist and Bianca Adams would dole out four assists. The team took advantage of Immaculata's 24 turnovers to score 30 points.
