Hamline's women's basketball team had a big night in the paint but St. Benedict countered with balanced scoring and went away with a 66-48 decision Wednesday night. Led by Alaina Quaranta, who scored a game high 12 points, the Pipers outscored the Blazers, 20-14 in the middle and forced 25 CSB turnovers for a 17-14 scoring edge there. But the Blazers were dialed in from long distance, connecting on 10 of 19 tries from the three-point range to snap a three-game losing streak and mai tain their hold on fourth place in the MIAC. 

Quaranta, the Pipers'  leading scorer, was 6-for-10 from the field and recorded  career high five steals. The Pipers had a season high 16 thefts. Chloe Graves, the school's all-time leader in assists, had half a dozen to pass the 350 mark for her career. Reilly Geistfeld was the top Piper on the boards with four. 

HU started well with a 8-7 lead after five minutes. CSB, however, went on a 9-3 run to end the quarter with a 16-11 advantage. The visitors started the second quarter strong as well, advancing the lead to 14 points before HU cut it to 36-25 at intermission. In all, St. Benedict had four players in double figures -- all between 10 and 12 points. 

Hamline, now 5-19 overall (2-15 MIAC) wraps up the season Saturday against Macalester at Hutton Arena. The team will honor its graduating players in a ceremony before the 1:00 p.m. game.
