Farmingdale State - 67, Sage - 59


Troy, N.Y. - Farmingdale State went into the break trailing by four at Sage on Wednesday night and outscored the Gators 40-28 in the second half to earn a 67-59 victory. FSC's Essence Casey (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the second half as the Rams improved to 12-9 overall and 10-5 in the Skyline Conference.

After sophomore guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, N.Y.) connected on a 3 to put the Gators (14-8, 10-5) ahead 39-32, Farmingdale State responded with a 9-0 run, including seven points at the free-throw line, to take a 41-39 lead.

Trailing 53-51 with 5:33 left to play, FSC senior guard Charnae Jenkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) hit a 3 to put the Rams back in front by one. After a score by Sage on their next possession, Farmingdale State responded with seven straight points to take a 61-55 lead with 2:29 remaining. Casey and Harrison scored the final six points for the Rams in the 67-59 victory.

Casey finished with a team-high 21 points (15-of-19 at free-throw line) and had five steals, while Harrison added 13 points and five steals. Junior guard Liz Durchhalter (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied 11 points, five steals and a game-high five assists for FSC.

The Gators were led by junior guard Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, N.Y.) who recorded a double-double with game-highs in both points (23) and rebounds (12).

Farmingdale State next will host Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, February 11th at 1:00 p.m.
