Lewiston, Maine - Nina Davenport scored a game-high 32 points and the Bates women's basketball team hit 14 three-pointers on their way to an 82-73 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams this afternoon at Alumni Gym.  Trinity falls to 11-9 overall and 2-6 in the NESCAC with its sixth loss in a row, while Bates improves to 7-14 overall and 3-6 in the league.  First-year Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) paced Trinity with 18 points.  Davenport knocked down six of 11 threes and the Bobcats hit 14 of 23 attempts from long range (60.9%).

Bates got off to a hot start, outscoring the Bantams 28-15 in the first quarter. They never trailed with Davenport putting the Bobcats up 2-0 right away with a jumper just 17 seconds into the game. Trinity trailed, 13-9, after a pair of Kabari layups, but Bates went on a 7-0 run to extend its lead to double digits.  Bates took a 50-36 lead into the locker room at halftime, and led by as many as 23 in the second half.  Trinity used a 10-1 run to end the third quarter thanks to a jumper by senior co-captain Sheena Landy (Durham, Conn.), a three-pointer by sophomore guard Erica Junquet (Monroe, N.J.), and five points by Kabari, and put a scare into the home team down the stretch in the fourth quarter, trimming the score to 76-66 with 2:16 left, but Bates held on.

Kabari made eight of 12 attempts from the field and added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while senior co-captain guard Kaitlin Lewis (Demarest, N.J.) totaled 13 points and six rebounds, Landy had 10 points and five rebounds, and sophomore center Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) registered 10 points, a team-high 11 boards, and a pair of blocks.
