Bull Moves to Ninth on All-Time Scoring List

TOWSON, MD –Junior Briana Bull surpassed Amber Smith '10 (1,057) for ninth in all-time scoring (1,062) at Goucher in a 75-46 loss to Catholic at home in the Decker SRC Arena Wednesday evening.

 

Bull scored a game-high 23 points while collecting 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals. In addition to moving to ninth all-time in scoring, she surpassed Maren Hill '03 (201) for fifth all-time in steals at Goucher (205). With three more steals, Bull ties Zeena Huang '99 (208) for fourth all-time in Goucher history.

 

Senior Jaida Scarborough scored 10 points while accumulating four rebounds and four assists for the Gophers. Freshman Katie Pacak produced 13 rebounds for Goucher while scoring seven points.

 

The Cardinals were led by Senior Melissa Errico with 22 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Fellow senior, Bernadette Launi, led the team with nine rebounds.

 

How It Happened:

  • The Cardinals pulled out to an early 14-4 lead in the opening 7 minutes of the game before closing the first quarter on top, 17-8.
  • The Gophers kept pace with the Cardinals in the second quarter shooting 46.2% (6-of-13) from the field. The half closed with Catholic on top, 36-23.
  • Goucher was held to nine points in the third stanza and the Cardinals expanded their lead to 54-32 heading into the final period.
  • Catholic shot 58.8% (10-of-17) and closed out the game on top, 75-46.
  • The Gophers held the Cardinals to 6.7% (1-of-15) from three-point range. Prior to the game, Catholic was shooting 42.1% from three – ranked first in DIII.
  • Goucher shot 31.3% (21-of-67) overall in the game and struggled with scoring in the paint.

The Gophers hit the road on Saturday, leaving the Decker SRC Arena for the first time since January 25th. Goucher takes on Susquehanna University 2PM in Selinsgrove, PA. In their first matchup in December, the Gophers fell to the River Hawks, 62-55.
