Energized Britons Run Past Saint Mary's

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Albion College ripped off a 20-2 run in the first quarter and it never looked back in scoring a 82-55 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Saint Mary's College.

Brittany Leutz produced six points off the bench, hitting 3-of-4 shots, in the first quarter. She finished the day with a career-high 11.

Emily Zgoda took over in the second and third quarters, contributing seven points in the second and adding eight more (hitting 2-of-3 from 3-point range) in the third. She finished with 20 points, her third such game of the season.

"Emily came off the bench with a lot of energy," Head Coach Doreen Carden said. "She was aggressive on the defensive end and shot with confidence. Emily and Brittany made shots when they were open."

Evelyn Wischmeyer scored in double figures for the fifth time this season, finishing with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.

Game Notes

  • Albion hit nine 3-point field goals, the seventh time it's made at least that many in a game this season
  • Oreyana Curry scored four points in the game, moving her career total to 927, good for 10thall-time at Albion.
  • Albion will take its shot against seventh-ranked Hope College at home Wednesday night. The tip is set for 7:30 inside Kresge Gymnasium.
