William Paterson Women’s Basketball Suffers 81-70 Loss at Kean

UNION, N.J. – Sophomore guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) posted her second career double-double but William Paterson (8-7, 3-5 NJAC) suffered an 81-70 loss at Kean (9-5, 6-1 NJAC) Jan. 11.

 

Rovito collected 14 points and five assists while matching her career best with 10 rebounds for the second double-double of her career. Freshman guard Gabby Harris (South River, N.J./South River) scored 22 tallies, and freshman guard/forward Alliera McCoy (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) added eight points to her 10 boards.

 

The Pioneers shot just 15.4 (2-13) percent from the floor as the Cougars were able to build a 23-14 advantage by the end of the first quarter. Kean owned a 62-48 rebounding advantage and a 44-26 edge in points scored in the paint, and when WP pulled to within eight midway through the fourth period (66-58, 5:16), the Cougars responded with a 7-1 run for a 73-59 lead with 3:44 on the clock.

 

Sophomore guard Marajiah Bacon scored 21 points for the Cougars, while freshman center/forward De'Mean Bond contributed 14 tallies and 20 rebounds.

 

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Jan. 14, at 3:00 p.m.
