NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Bluffton University broke away from a nip-and-tuck Heartland Collegiate Athletic clash with Manchester University Wednesday, Jan. 11, behind a 34-14 roll in the second and third quarters.

MU, falling to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in the league, kept it close over the first 10 minutes against the co-loop leaders, going on a 5-0 run to cut a once 9-2 deficit to 9-7 in the final moments of the opening stanza. A wild sequence to close the period that resulted in a Beavers' lay-up kicked started the big run sending the visitors to a 57-29 victory inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.

The upperclasswoman duo of senior Jenifer Lee (Rockville, Ind.) and junior forward/center Torrie Christlieb (Culver, Ind.) combined for 15 of the Black and Gold's 29 points. Christlieb was close to double-double range with eight points and 12 rebounds to go along with two blocked shots. Lee ended the evening with seven points, two rebounds and an assist.

Manchester University begins a span of back-to-back conference road trips Saturday, Jan. 14. They take a southern journey, along with the Spartans' men's squad, to Transylvania University of Kentucky for a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader.
