ADRIAN, Mich. – Albion went on a 7-0 run to build a double digit lead in the fourth quarter and it hung on to score a 75-70 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian.

The victory, Albion's third in a row, pushed the Britons to 9-3 overall and 3-2 against league rivals.

Albion shot 50 percent as it outscored Adrian by four in the second half.

"It was good to find a way to win when we were not shooting well early," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said.

Mackenzie Fairbanks made the first of two from the line and Emiliy Bernas, Oreyana Curry and Emily Zgoda scored layups to send Albion to a 61-50 lead with 7 ½ minutes to play.

Albion led by 11 with three minutes left, but Adrian made it interesting as Ashley Morris scored seven of her 10 points to cut the margin to five, 73-68, with 1:21 on the clock.

The Bulldogs had a possession to get closer, but Mariah Jackson misfired from 3-point range.

Bernas matched her career high with 18 points and Curry finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.

"It was good to have Bernas step up and score when we were struggling and Mackenzie gave us a spark with good minutes off the bench," Carden said.

Albion's other three starters – Erin Nelson, Olivia Savage and Evelyn Wischmeyer – produced eight points apiece.

Albion will take a break from league play Saturday when it hosts Illinois Tech for a 3 o'clock game at Kresge Gymnasium.
