The Baruch College Bearcats lost a tightly-contested road game, 75-70, to the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers University-Camden on Monday night in Camden, New Jersey.
The Scarlet Raptors led by as much as 12 points (50-38) in the third quarter, but the visiting Bearcats came roaring back to get as close as 68-66 on a layup by Shannon Barrett with 59 seconds left.
The two teams battled, but the home side connected five free throws and a layup in the final 59 seconds to clinch the narrow win.
The Bearcats scored 29 point off 15 turnovers and had three players in double-figure scoring led by Jacqueline Kennedy (22pts, 16rbs, 2blks), Veronica Ganzi (19pts), and Barrett (16pts, 11rbs). Kristen Podlovits dished out seven assists.
Jovan Childers led five Scarlet Raptors in double-figure scoring with 19 points and six assists.
The Bearcats will now enter the final exam/holiday break.
They will resume action on New Years Eve, Saturday, December 31, with a 1:00 PM home contest against the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
