Lancers knock off Bison, 75-64

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Brooke Packard (Dudley, Mass.) scored a team-high 18 points in Nichols College's 75-64 defeat at Worcester State University Thursday night in non-conference women's basketball action at Lancer Gymnasium.

Senior Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with eight points, a team-high 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals while senior Brittany Donovan (Newport, R.I.) dropped in 13 points and sophomore Amy Assad (Millis, Mass.) netted 10 points.

Sophomore Britt Herring (West Brookfield, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds for the Lancers. Classmate Kaitlyn Berkel (Waterford, Conn.) notched 12 points and seven rebounds, and junior Brianna Hackett (Hollis, N.H.) scored 13 points.

The Lancers held a 49-35 rebounding edge and shot 44 percent from the field. Nichols canned 38 percent of its shots but was outscored 46-26 in the paint.

Nichols trailed 36-30 at the half behind 11 points from Packard. Worcester State was paced by Herring with six points and 10 rebounds. The Bison outscored the Lancers 20-12 in the third to take a 50-48 lead into the fourth as Packard caned 3-of-4 from the field in the stanza. In the fourth, the Lancers bounced back to score 27 of the quarter's 41 points, sparked by eight from Herring.

All-Time Series
Tonight's contest marked the 18th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Worcester State University. The Lancers have now won two in a row and lead the series, 12-6.
