William Paterson Women’s Basketball Falls at Rowan, 83-70

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Junior forward Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds but the William Paterson women's basketball team (4-3, 2-1 NJAC) suffered its first conference loss with an 83-70 decision at Rowan (6-1, 2-1 NJAC) Dec. 3.

 

Woetzel added two assists and a team-best three steals, while sophomore guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) posted 12 tallies and five rebounds. Freshman guard Gabby Harris (South River, N.J./South River) had 11 points, six boards and three assists, and freshman guard Kristina Ulrich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) and junior guard Jackie Rodriguez (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) each scored nine points.

 

The Profs opened up a 17-7 advantage midway through the first quarter, and when the Pioneers cut it to four early in the second (28-24, 8:27), Rowan responded by scoring the game's next 12 points en route to a 46-31 halftime lead.

 

WP scored the first five points of the second half (46-38, 8:43) before the Profs strung together a 14-2 burst for a 60-40 lead at the 5:10 mark of the third quarter.

 

Senior guard Anyssa Sanchez paced Rowan with 20 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Freshman guard Samantha Tello and junior guard/forward Alex Raring each tallied 15 points.

 

William Paterson will visit No. 14/18 Montclair State Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 8:00 p.m.
