Tigers Cruise Past Cal Miramar in Opener

LOS ANGELES — Triana Anderson led six players in double figures with 18 points as the Occidental women's basketball team cruised past Cal Miramar in its opener, 106-27 at Rush Gym on Tuesday.

Erin Matsumoto had 17 points, Midori McElwee and Emily Leonard scored 13, Shariah Green had 12, and Margery Wilson chipped in 10.

Raquel Ramirez led Cal Miramar with 13.

"I thought it was a good first opportunity to see what progress we've made so far," Oxy head coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "There were lots of positives and definitely places where we can improve and build as the season goes on."

The Tigers held Cal Miramar to 23 percent shooting and forced 34 turnovers, 

Cal Miramar is a first year program that has plans to join the NAIA conference Calpac. 

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action this weekend in their home tournament the Socal Classic. Oxy faces a pair of good teams, Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, and Linfield on Sunday. Both games are at 5 p.m.
