Hartwick Falls to First-Place Stevens

             HOBOKEN, NJ – Hartwick dropped a 69-41 decision at Stevens in Empire 8 women's basketball on Tuesday night at Canavan Arena. The Hawks struggled shooting the basketball through the opening three quarters before out-scoring the Ducks 21-13 in the final period.
            The Hawks fall to 9-13 overall and 7-7 in the Empire 8. Stevens improves to 18-5 and remains unbeaten in conference play at 14-0.
            Hartwick received a team-high 13 points from senior Taylor Vonasek (Willington, CT/E.O. Smith). She added four rebounds and three blocked shots. Sarah Shaw (Franklin, MA/Franklin) came off the bench to score 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting with a pair of three-pointers.
            Jacqui Foreman (Tolland, CT/Tolland) grabbed seven rebounds and three steals for the Hawks. Emily Stone (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) contributed six points and Christina Graziadei (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) added four points, five rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
            Kaitlyn Astel led all scorers with 22 points for the Ducks. Megan Brown added 12 points and Anna Toke secured a game-high nine rebounds.
            Hartwick has two games left on its regular season schedule. The Hawks play at St. John Fisher Friday night and Ithaca on Saturday. 'Wick needs a victory over the Cardinals coupled with an Ithaca loss to Utica Friday to remain alive for the final E8 playoff spot.
