MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2016) – Led by 16 points from forward Catherine Eckert and 13 from reserve Jessie Ustick, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes slowly pulled away from the Sewanee women's basketball team for a 68-50 win, Sunday, inside Mallory Gymnasium.

The Tigers dropped their fifth straight game. Sewanee is now 11-12 overall and 3-9 in conference play.

After Sewanee took a 6-5 lead after a pair of Savannah Rose free throws, the Lynx answered back with an Ustick layup. Unfortunately, that would be the final time Sewanee led.

The game remained close for most of the first and second quarters. Rhodes built its largest lead of the opening 20 minutes right before halftime after the Lynx closed the second quarter on a 9-2 run.

Sewanee did play better in the third quarter. Despite being outscored by three, 19-16, the Tigers made 46.2 percent of their shots. That included seven points and a 3-for-3 effort from Bella Taylor.

Despite that effort, Sewanee was still down 13 points heading into the final quarter. Having to push the pace, the Tigers made only 38.5 percent of their attempts in the fourth quarter. With that, Rhodes outscored Sewanee 18-13.

Individually, Taylor and senior Jamie Chauvin both finished with 14 points while Corey Caulder added nine points.

Sewanee closes out its SAA regular season with a pair of conference home games against Oglethorpe and Berry next weekend.
