Nazareth routs Alfred, 87-42

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sam Sorge tallied a game-high 19 points and Kelly Broderick added 14 to lead the Golden Flyers to a 87-42 women's basketball victory over visiting Alfred Friday night at Kidera Gymnasium.

The Golden Flyers improved to 16-6 overall and 9-4 in the Empire 8, while Alfred fell to 2-20 overall and 1-12 in the Empire 8. The Golden Flyers maintained their hold on third place in the conference standings, one game ahead of Ithaca. Nazareth has three more home games remaining, starting Saturday against Elmira at 4 p.m.

The Golden Flyers dominated the Saxons from start to finish as they led 27-16 after one quarter and 52-22 at halftime. The lead continued to grow in the second half as Nazareth led 69-31 after the third quarter.

Sorge went 3-for-4 from three-point range to contribute to her point toal and Broderick went 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to lead the Nazareth sharpshooters.

Nazareth was able to substituted freely in the second half as several different players broke into the scoring column. Lindsey Kelly came off the bench to scored 12 points, while Julia Brew and Samantha Peebles each added eight. Colby McCartney had seven points and seven rebounds.

Sarah Kichman was Alfred's high scorer with 15 points.
