Buffalo State Sinks Lakers for Third Straight Win, 67-66

OSWEGO, N.Y.—Buffalo State earned its third-consecutive victory, erasing a six-point deficit in the final three minutes to steal a 67-66 win over host Oswego this afternoon in a SUNYAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) led Buffalo State with 22 points, including hitting the game-winning free throw, and added nine rebounds.
  • Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) added 19 points and 12 boards for her eighth double-double of the season and fourth in a row.
  • Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) added 14 points for the Bengals.
  • Oswego hit a 3-pointer on the game's opening possession and led throughout the first half, pulling ahead by as many as 14 points in the second quarter before holding a 38-32 lead at halftime.
  • The Bengals used a 9-0 run midway through the third quarter to take their first lead of the game and continued to lead 53-50 entering the fourth quarter.
  • The Lakers netted the first seven points of the final frame to reclaim the lead, however, and nailed a 3-pointer with 3:17 remaining to pull ahead by six.
  • Perry answered with a 3-pointer on the next possession to kick off another 9-0 run that gave the Bengals a three-point lead with 31 seconds remaining.
  • Oswego tied the score with another 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining, but Perry hit 1 of 2 free throws with 6.1 seconds left to put the Bengals back in front. 
  • The Lakers running jumper at the buzzer was off the mark.
  • Oswego kept the game close hitting 10 3-pointers and outscoring Buffalo State 30-15 from beyond the arc. 
  • The Bengals committed just 10 turnovers, compared to 16 by the Lakers, and also held a 53-45 rebounding advantage.
 

FOR THE FOES

  • Tayler Sorrell led Oswego with 21 points.
  • Courtney Ameele added 20 points, and Zana Dillard scored 13.
