Franklin Hits Road for Key HCAC Game against Rose-Hulman on Wednesday

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team begins its second three-game Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road swing of the season on Wednesday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The two teams are a combined 19-5 in league games this winter with Rose-Hulman sitting in second place at 10-2. Franklin is tied for third place just one game back at 9-3. The Grizzlies seek to sweep the season's two regular-season meetings after picking up a 48-47 overtime win in December.

Franklin stands 13-6 overall and is coming off a 74-43 win over Earlham College on Saturday.

Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) leads the team in four statistical categories. The forward tops on the team in scoring (13.2 ppg), rebounding (9.2 rpg), blocks (41), and field goal percentage (49.7 percent).

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) is shooting 38.9 percent on her three-point field goal attempts. The guard is averaging 11.5 points per contest on the season. She leads the team with 51 assists and 31 steals.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) rounds out the team's double-figure scorers at 10.1 points per outing. She has made 33 three-point field goals on the season.

Junior Emily Alfrey (Fairland, Ind./Triton Central) and sophomore Kelsey Smith (Lexington, Ind./Scottsburg) are both scoring 5.8 points per game.

Wednesday's game features the top two scoring defense with Rose-Hulman leading the HCAC allowing 52.8 points per game. Franklin is holding opponents to 56.4 points per contest.

Rose-Hulman has won 11 straight games and stands 16-3 on the season. Ally Bromenschenkel leads the Fightin' Engineer's balanced scoring at 8.2 points per game. The team has seven players averaging between six and eight points per contest.
