The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Cardinals of York College, 72-44, in a CUNYAC contest on Wednesday night in Jamaica, New York.
The two teams played a competitive first period, but the visiting Bearcats broke open the contest in the second period by outscoring the Cardinals, 22-13, to lead 37-24 at halftime.
The two teams played a close third period (15-15), but the Bearcats raised the pressure on defense in the final period by limiting the Cardinals to five points for the 72-44 rout.
Veronica Ganzi had a big game scoring a season-high 30 points, which included 6-of-8 from three. Lauren Smith had a solid night on the defensive end with a career-high 18 rebounds.
Shannon Barrett had another double-double (14pts, 12 rbs), while Kristen Podlovits came close to a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Jacqueline Kennedy rounded out the top scorers with a near double-double of 10 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks.
Samantha Bond led the home side with 19 points and seven rebounds.
The Bearcats will return home to the ARC Arena on Saturday, January 30, with a 3 p.m. CUNYAC contest against the Cougars of Medgar Evers
