Terrance & Fulton Power Women’s Basketball Past Falcons, 76-68

Randolph Center, VT – Seniors Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) and Caseylynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) combined for 47 of the Roos 76 points as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team won their second straight contest, 76-68, against Fisher College in the first round of the Vermont Tech Tournament on Tuesday.

The Roos (3-7) opened up an early 12-7 lead after a three-pointer from Fulton and back-to-back hoops from Terrance. The teams continued to trade the lead in a seesaw battle as Fisher took a 22-20 lead after the opening quarter.

The game continued to be a back-and-forth battle in the second quarter before Fisher took a slim, 38-37 lead into intermission.

 

Terrance paced the Roos with 14 points in the opening half, while Fulton added 12 points and seven rebounds and Tatiana Laroche(Elmont, NY) chipped in six points. Fisher shot 58 percent from long distance (7-for-12), while the Roos were 4-for-8 from behind the arc.

The teams continued to match each other shot for shot as neither team led by more than three in the third quarter until the Roos closed the period on a 5-0 run behind a trey from Fulton and hoop inside from Laroche to lead 60-55 after three quarters.

The Roos outscored the Falcons 16-13 over the final 10 minutes leading to the 76-68 final.

Fulton led the way with game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds good for her fifth double-double of the season. Terrance had her most effective game of the season posting 23 points on 9-for-10 shooting. Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) finished with nine points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) added seven points and 11 boards.

Aliyanah McIntosh led the Falcons (2-8) with 18 and 17 points, respectively, while Murphy Carroll added 12.

The women's basketball team will take on the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on the campus of Vermont Tech.
