Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team will seek a season series sweep with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference member Manchester University on Wednesday, January 27, at 7:30 p.m. from the Spurlock Center.

The Grizzlies will strive to get back into contention for the conference title chase after losing at Bluffton University on Saturday, January 30. Franklin stands 11-6 on the season and is now tied for third place with a 7-3 HCAC record.

Wednesday's game begins a weeklong home stand, with Earlham College coming up on Saturday, January 30, at 4 p.m.

Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) ranks second in the conference by averaging 9.4 rebounds per game. She is tops in the league with 38 blocked shots. The forward leads the Grizzlies in scoring at 13.4 points per contest.

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) is averaging 11.7 points per outing and is making 40 percent of her three-point field goal attempts on the season. She leads the team with 41 assists and 27 steals.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) has made a team-high 28 three-point field goals and is scoring 9.9 points per outing. Classmate Emily Alfrey (Fairland, Ind./Triton Central) ranks second on the team with 3.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore Kelsey Smith (Lexington, Ind./Scottsburg) and freshman Maddie O'Day (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) each add five points per game to the scoring attack.

Franklin was victorious at Manchester 51-28 on January 6. The Spartans stand 6-11 on the season and are in a three-way tie for fifth place in the HCAC with a 4-6 league record. The team is led by Katie Arterburn (9.4 ppg) and Samantha Bolen (9.2 ppg).
