UMF Takes Non-Conference Home Finale Over Machias

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team (8-5) extended its winning streak to five games and seven out of the last eight overall with a 78-33 non-conference win over the University of Maine at Machias (2-8) on Sunday afternoon in Dearborn Gymnasium. 

Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) led the Beavers with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting with a pair of rebounds and steals. Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished three assists for UMF. The Beavers also saw three of their own set career-highs.Haley Felkel (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) tallied seven points and three rebounds. Emma Duggan (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Regional) netted eight points and Allison Crocker (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) added six points.

UMaine-Machias' Alicen Brooks charted a game-high 16 points and nailed four shots from beyond the arc. Shannon Garland added six points and four rebounds for the Clippers.

UMF dominated the game by outscoring UMM, 34-8, in the paint and saw 44 points come from the bench. The Beavers' defense also caused 18 Clipper turnovers and converted those mistakes into 23 points.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference action on Friday night when New England College visits Farmington.
