Harrison's Triple-Double Powers Rams Past Yeshiva

New York, N.Y. - Farmingdale State sophomore guard Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, N.Y.) recorded her first career triple-double as the women's basketball team earned a 78-41 conference victory at Yeshiva on Wednesday night. Harrison finished the game with 27 points, 11 assists and a school record 13 steals.

Leading 8-3 with 6:24 remaining in the first quarter, Farmingdale State (6-11, 5-4) used a 16-0 run over the next 3:38 to extend their advantage to 24-3.

Yeshiva (0-13, 0-8) trailed 28-6 after one and opened the second quarter with nine unanswered points to cut the deficit to 28-15.

FSC led 33-20 with 3:03 left in the half, before 3's by Harrison and junior guard Charnae Jenkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) along with a Chelsea May (Baldwin, N.Y.) layup gave the Rams a 21-point advantage at 41-20. Farmingdale State took a 41-22 lead into halftime as Harrison led all scorers with 14 points, six assists and five steals.

A 14-0 Rams run to start the third quarter gave FSC their largest lead of the game at 55-22. The Rams led by 32 entering the fourth and outscored the Maccabees 12-7 in the final quarter as they earned the 78-41 road victory.

Harrison's 13 steals surpassed the previous school record of 12 set by Kimberly Blakney on November 21, 2009 at SUNY New Paltz. With 11 assists, Harrison is now tied for third place all-time at Farmingdale State.

FSC next will play host to Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference game on Friday, January 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
