Gettysburg Handles Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Five players reached double-figures as the Gettysburg College women's basketball team defeated Bryn Mawr College 74-17 inside Class of 1958 Gym Saturday afternoon. 

Gettysburg (10-3) held Bryn Mawr (3-10) to just six field goals. It was the lowest scoring output by an opponent since the Bullets held Bryn Mawr to just 13 points on Nov. 29, 2011. 

Gettysburg ripped off the game's first 15 points and took a 20-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sophomore Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) posted 10 points in the second quarter to give the visitors a 40-8 lead heading into the locker room.

The Bullets' lead reached 50 (67-17) on a three-pointer by junior Laura Valente (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) with 2:39 remaining in the game. 

Gibbons finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in just 19 minutes of action. Freshman Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) posted 13 points, while junior Sara Graham (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) turned in personal highs with a dozen points and 13 rebounds. 

Senior Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) added 10 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Annie Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 performance from the field. 

Gettysburg hosts Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
