Franklin Hosting Anderson for Alumni Day on Saturday

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team seeks to resume its winning ways when it hosts Anderson University for Alumni Day on Saturday, January 16, at 1 p.m. from the Spurlock Center. There will be free admission to the game.

Former Franklin women's basketball players will participate in an alumni game, starting at 10:30 a.m., and will be recognized on the court during halftime festivities. Food and beverages will be provided to alumni players and guests after the alumni outing.

The current Grizzlies were victorious on two of the three games in their recent Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road swing. The team suffered its second league loss in Wednesday night's 76-60 loss at Transylvania University.

Franklin stands 9-5 on the season and is tied for second place in the HCAC with a 5-2 HCAC mark.

Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) leads the team by averaging 13.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, while also having 33 blocked shots. The forward is shooting 51 percent from the floor this season.

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) is averaging 11.4 points per outing. She is shooting 39.5 percent from behind the three-point field goal arc this winter. The guard is tops on the team with 21 steals.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) scored a season-high 21 points at Transylvania to increase her season scoring average to 10 points per contest.

Anderson has a 3-11 overall record and is 2-5 in HCAC play after losing its last seven games. Guard Poston is the Ravens' only double-figure scorer, averaging 11.8 points per game.
