Bach records 11 points, 10 rebounds in McDaniel upset win at No. 9 Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – McDaniel outscored Muhlenberg 45-23 after halftime to rally from a 16-point deficit and hand the ninth-ranked Mules their first loss of the season 65-59 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Tuesday.

Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) helped the Green Terror (10-3, 5-1 CC) with her first collegiate double-double, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lindsey Nichols(Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added 11 points and six assists. Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) rounded out a quartet in double figures with 10 points.

Christina Manning paced the Mules (10-1, 5-1 CC) with 16 points.

Trailing 36-20, Davis hit a jumper 18 seconds into the third period to ignite a 22-11 quarter.

After Maggie Maggie Zerbe made it a 40-25 game, Bach hit back-to-back layups to trim the margin to 11 with 7:37 to play.

The lead swelled back to 16 on a Rachel Plotke 3-pointer with 4:19 showing before the hosts went cold from the floor, missing their next seven shots with six turnovers.

In the meantime, the Green Terror scored 18 straight points to take its first lead 49-47 with 7:47 to play in the fourth quarter.

A Nichols triple closed the margin to 47-42 at the end of the period before a Smith steal-and-layup and jumper 22 seconds apart trimmed the deficit to one with 8:37 on the clock.

A Davis second-chance 3-pointer gave the visitors the lead.

After Zerbe snapped the 6-minute, 38-second scoring drought with a layup, Nichols canned another triple to put McDaniel on top for good.

Two Nichols free throws pushed the lead as large as nine at 63-54 with 21 ticks remaining to seal the Green Terror's first win over a top-10 opponent in exactly six years. McDaniel defeated the then-No. 9 Mules 72-71 in overtime in Allentown on Jan. 12, 2010.

Muhlenberg jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the game's first 3:28 before the first of five Nichols 3-pointers got the Green Terror on the board.

Two Karli Zeps (Reisterstown, Md./Seton Keough) free throws closed the deficit ot 19-15 early in the second quarter but Muhlenberg reeled off eight straight points en route to the 16-point halftime edge.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Haverford on Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m.
