Franklin Loses at Transylvania

Lexington, Ky. - The Franklin College women's basketball team lost its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road contest in 76-60 contest to Transylvania University on Wednesday.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) scored a season-high 21 points and connected on five three-point field goals. Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) added 14 points. Junior Emily Alfrey (Fairland, Ind./Triton Central) scored nine points, while freshman Maddie O'Day (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) rounded out the offensive attack with eight points.

Transylvania shot 48.3 percent in the contest and made 11 of 29 three-point field goals.

The Pioneers led 20-13 after the first quarter and led 38-24 after the first 20 minutes. Transylvania scored 22 points during the third quarter to secure the victory.

Franklin returns to action on Saturday, January 16, at 1 p.m. when it hosts Anderson University during an Alumni Day game from the Spurlock Center.
