Franklin Travels to Transylvania on Wednesday

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team concludes its three-game Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) road swing at Transylvania University on Wednesday, January 13, at 7:30 p.m. from Lexington, Kentucky.

The Grizzlies have won the first two games of this road trip to stand 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in league action. The team scored a 72-49 victory at Mount St. Joseph last Saturday after earning a 51-28 triumph at Manchester University last Wednesday.

Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) leads the team in four statistical categories: points (13.1 ppg), rebounds (9.6 rpg), field goal percentage (49.6 percent), blocked shots (31), and is tied for team-high honors in steals (20).

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) is shooting 41.5 percent from behind the three-point field goal arc and is scoring 11.9 points per game. She is tied the team lead with 20 steals this winter.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) is scoring 9.2 points per contest. The guard has connected on a team-high 19 three-point field goals on the season.

Franklin is holding opposing teams to 54.1 points per game and 22.7 percent shooting on three-point field goal attempts for the season.

Transylvania is 8-5 on the season and stands 4-2 in HCAC games. The Pioneers are coming off a pair of victories last week, defeating Earlham College 85-66 and Defiance College 84-63. Kristen Hayes leads the team in scoring at 15.8 points per contest. Katelyn Smith follows closely behind at 15.6 points per outing.
