POTSDAM, N.Y.—Five Bengals scored in double figures as Buffalo State used a big third quarter to pull away from host Potsdam to record an 80-69 victory tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) led Buffalo State with 18 points and added eight rebounds and seven steals.
  • Sophomore Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) registered her first career double-double, netting 14 points to go with 12 rebounds and six assists.
  • Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) and Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) scored 13 points each, and Jordan Yastremski (Bath/Bath-Haverling) added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Potsdam used an early 10-0 run to take a 10-4 lead, but Buffalo State closed the first quarter with an 8-1 run in the final two minutes to take a 12-11 lead.  The Bengals maintained the one-point lead at halftime at 33-32.
  • Buffalo State assembled a 13-0 run in the middle of the third quarter to break a tie score and never looked back.
  • The Bengals took a 16-point advantage into the fourth quarter and pushed the lead to as many as 21 before coasting to the win.
  • The Bengals overcame 34 turnovers in the game.
  • Buffalo State shot just 55 percent from the free throw line, but had nearly four times as many attempts as Potsdam, finishing 22 of 40 from the charity stripe.  The Bears were just 7 of 11 at the line.
  • The Bengals dominated the glass, outrebounding Potsdam, 57-28.
 

FOR THE FOES

  • Katie Lavoie paced Potsdam with 18 points.
  • Abbey LaPage scored 12 points, while Abbey Smith chipped in 10.
