Millikin Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Fontbonne

          The Millikin women's basketball team defeated Fontbonne University 68-48 on December 21 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.

          Millikin controlled the entire game rolling out to a 20-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  The Big Blue lead 36-24 at halftime.

          Millikin shot 39 percent from the field while holding the Griffins to 27 percent.  Millikin dominated the boards out rebounding Fontbonne 60-31. 

          Alyssa Saklak led the Big Blue with 27 points and a career high 17 rebounds.  Alex Capeles added 18 points for Millikin.  Emma Hoyer grabbed 12 rebounds for Millikin.

          Big Blue senior Hannah Millington scored five points and grabbed nine rebounds in what appears to be her final game with the Big Blue.  Pending final testing, Millington has accepted an opportunity to join the Decatur Police Department.  Her training will begin in early January.  Millington plans to finish her Millikin coursework in order to graduate on time in May.

          DeAmbra Pilkington led Fontbonne with 17 points.

          Millikin is now 6-4 while Fontbonne falls to 1-7.

          The Big Blue will complete its non-conference schedule on Dec. 30 at Principia College.  Millikin opens play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on January 2 at Carthage College.
