Millikin Women Scores Road Win

         The Millikin women's basketball team won at St. Mary's College 73-60 on December 19 in Notre Dame, Indiana.

         The Big Blue led 34-29 at the half, before St. Mary's rallied and made it a back-and-fourth game in the second half.  The game was tied at 60-60 with six minutes left to play.  Millikin took the lead for good with four minutes remaining on senior Alyssa Saklak's 11th straight field goal of the game.  Saklak's made her first 11 field goals tying the Millikin record for consecutive field goals held by Susan Wills against Wheaton College in 1995.  Millikin went 11-14 from the free throw line in the games final minutes to seal the victory. 

         Millikin shot 46 percent from the field while holding St. Mary's to 39 percent.  Millikin dominated the rebounding battle 46-30.

         Saklak ended the game with a game high 29 points on 11-13 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line.  Saklak added nine rebounds and three assists.  Rachael Weber had 15 points, three assists and three steals.  Kelsey Going had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

         Eleni Shea led St. Mary's with 20 points and Maddie Kohler added 14.

         Millikin will be back in action on Monday, December 21 for a 2 p.m. game against Fontbonne University at the Griswold Center.
