DePauw Stays Perfect in NCAC with Win over Oberlin

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw never trailed in its North Coast Athletic Conference home opener with Oberlin and extended its win streak to four with a 63-45 victory. The Tigers moved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen dropped to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The win was also DePauw's 96 straight home regular season conference win.

The Tigers closed the opening stanza with a 13-2 run to take a 20-7 lead at the quarter break and then opened the second quarter with a 4-0 to grab a 24-7 advantage. Oberlin trimmed the halftime margin to 11 at 32-21.

Oberlin got no closer than 11 in the second half as the Tigers led by as many as 19 later in the fourth.

DePauw's Emily Budde led all scorers with 21 points, while Melinda Franked topped Wednesday's career-high rebound performance by hauling down 11 today. Franke and Maya Howard each added nine points while Claire Ryan led with four assists and five steals.

Tyler Parlor paced Oberlin with 12 points and three steals with Connie Estevez grabbing seven rebounds and Caroline Hamilton dishing out three assists.

DePauw shot 39.3 percent from the floor, while Oberlin connected on 39.1 percent from the field. The Tigers held a 38-27 rebounding edge and committed 15 turnovers to Oberlin's 22. DePauwheld a 21-8 lead in points off of turnovers.

The Tigers host the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic on December 28-29 and will face Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Dec. 28 at 4 p.m.
