Brooklyn Women Cruise To 2-0 In Conference Play, Knock off John Jay 75-47

 Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women improved to 2-0 in conference play on Friday evening, as they knocked off John Jay, 75-47, in front of a packed house at West Quad.  The Bulldogs are now 5-3 overall, while John Jay is 2-4 and 0-2 in CUNYAC play.

The Bulldogs dominated in every facet of the game, out-shooting the Bloodhounds 42%-26%, out rebounding them 54-36, and coming up with eight steals and five blocks to only five steals and zero blocks for John Jay.

"I loved our intensity," said head coach Alex Lang.  "I think that tonight was a huge step forward.  We were getting out and running like we want to, and were moving the ball well offensively.  I think the team is starting to get comfortable and gaining confidence."

With the Bulldogs already up by 15 at the half, they opened the second on an impressive 14-0 run to open up a commanding 51-22 lead.  During the stretch, Brooklyn knocked down 6-9 shots, including 2-3 from three-point range, and got six points from leading scorer Olivia Colbert

The Bulldogs hit a season-high eight three-pointers in the win, led by Justine Vento's 4-6 from beyond the arc.  The junior finished with 12 points and three assists. Colbert notched another double-double of 16 points and 11 boards.

Taylor Gallagher was the third Brooklyn player in double-figure scoring, with 12 points to go along with a game-high eight assists.

Junior center Maya Ajee-Thomas had a team-high of 12 rebounds, including five offensive, to go along with nine points and three blocked shots.   Fifth starter Twanda Holder just missed getting into double figures with eight points, while adding three assists and three steals.

John Jay was led by Brianna Cunningham's 11 points.  Victoria Royal had a game-high 15 boards. 

The Bulldogs will be back at home in CUNYAC action on Monday as they host the Cougars of Medgar Evers at 5:00 pm in the first half of a doubleheader with the men, who will tip-off at 7:15.
