William Paterson Women’s Basketball Drops 69-42 Decision to Stockton

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (4-3, 2-1 NJAC) dropped a 69-42 decision to visiting Stockton (3-3, 1-2 NJAC) Dec. 5.

 

The Ospreys raced out to a 24-9 advantage by the end of the first quarter, knocking down 10 of 18 (.556) field goals while limiting the Pioneers to a .250 (4-16) effort. Stockton pushed it to a 20-point lead less than four minutes into the second quarter, and carried a 39-19 edge into the break. The Ospreys' lead grew to as many as 31 (63-32, 5:01) during the fourth quarter.

 

Stockton shot 44.2 (23-52) percent from the field overall while limiting WP to an 18-for-61 (.295) effort, and owned a 36-14 advantage on points in the paint and a 23-10 edge in scoring off turnovers.

 

Senior forward Alex Milne (Howell, N.J./Howell) led the Pioneers with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while senior guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) had seven tallies, five boards, four assists and five steals.

 

Sophomore forward Najha Treadwell and sophomore guard Lea Mendolla each posted 14 points for Stockton. Junior guard Taylor Christina collected 12 tallies, and sophomore forward Sasha Williams contributed 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals and seven blocked shots.

 

William Paterson will visit No. 8/12 Montclair State Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 6:00 p.m.
