POULTNEY, Vt. – A poor shooting streak in the second half tripped up the Eagles as Green Mountain fell to Thomas College, 71-61, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball action on Friday night at the Eagle Dome.

Green Mountain (0-4, 0-2 NAC) started off the game with a bang scoring the first nine points thanks in large part to Suzanna Moses (Stafford, Vt.) who hit two early threes during the opening run.

With 3:31 to play in the first quarter, however, the Terriers had evened the score at 12-12 on Sarah Pepin's first to two three-pointers in the contest.

After shooting at a 45 percent clip in the first quarter, the Eagles went cold in the second quarter converting on only 14 percent of their shots. Shakira Bowers (Boston, Mass.) scored on a layup with 4:44 left to play in the half, but the team would be held pointless until the half trailing at the break 32-23.

Katie McAllister got off to a great start scoring 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe for the visitors. Pepin also had eight off the bench for the visitors in the opening half.

Moses posted six first half points while Kali Demarco (Mechanicville, N.Y.) popped in five for the Eagles, but was a bit turnover prone with six turnovers.

Thomas (1-4, 1-1 NAC) extended their lead to as many as 15 through the fourth quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers by Mercedes Rideout (Chambersburg, Pa.) helped the Eagles claw back within seven at 53-46 with 8:07 left to play.

McAllister would register seven of her game-high 27 in the fourth quarter to help push the visitors to the win.

McAllister added nine boards and two blocks on the night and was helped by Ashleigh Gagne and Tess McClenahan who each had 12 points. The latter also contributed seven assists.

Green Mountain was led by Rideout's 17 points, while Sherelle Jackson (Greenville, S.C) had 10 points and five assists. Maddy Postnikoff (Kelowna, B.C.) posted eight points in addition to her team-high eight boards.

GMC outrebounded the Terriers by a 51-41 margin, however, the visitor's lived in the paint registering 30 points to just eight there for the home siders.

The Eagles and Terriers will both return to the court tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. The Eagles will host UMaine-Farmington while the Terriers will travel to Castleton.
