Ravens Lose Home Opener

More news about: Rosemont

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont women's basketball team ended up on the short side of an 84-68 final score tonight against the visiting Penn State-Brandywine Nittany Lions in Alumnae Hall. With the result the Ravens are now 0-2 on the season while PSU-Brandywine have won their first two games of the season.

Except for a relatively low-scoring fourth quarter, the Ravens were outscored in each of the first three quarters and never held the lead in the game. After falling behind 6-0 to start the game the Ravens fought back to get to within one point, trailing 16-15 with 3:25 left after a Carly Hislop layup. Another layup, this time from Brianna Macauley, would keep the Ravens within reach of the lead at 18-17 with 2:40 left in the quarter, but the Nittany Lions would outscore Rosemont 8-2 the rest of the quarter to take the 26-19 lead at the first break.

PSU-Brandywine outscored the Ravens by three points in the second quarter and by nine points in the third, with Rosemont taking the fourth quarter by a 14-11 count.

Carly Hislop had a double-double tonight, scoring 19 points with 13 rebounds. Jasmyn Parker had 12 points and Ayanna Thompson scored 11 to account for the Ravens scoring in double-digits.

The Nittany Lions had five players in double-figures, led by Olivia Encarnacion and Jessy Gledhill, each adding 13 to the total score.

The women return to the hardwood on Saturday when they travel to Glenside, PA to face the Arcadia Knights. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 1:00pm tip.
