Off puts up a double-double in 70-54 loss

ALFRED, NY—Junior Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) notches her first double-double of the season in a loss to Wells College, 70-54.
 
Off scored 18 points and ripped down 11 rebounds in a loss to the Express at home in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.  Sophomore McKaylee Croll (Perry, NY/Perry) and freshman Chanice Battle (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) pitched in with eight points each.
 
Wells earned the lead at the 7:25 mark in the first quarter and did not look back until the second quarter.  The Saxons fell behind by as much as six points with 2:04 remaining in the first.  However, a 5-1 run got them back into the game heading into the second quarter. 
 
Alfred University came out of the short break and scored to take the lead for the first time in the game.  The Saxons' largest lead was with 6:51 left in the half when they were holding the Express of 20-15.  By the end of the half, Wells had taken back a six-point lead.
 
In the opening minutes of the second half the Express took a large lead, getting ahead by as much as 15 points.  AU reduced the lead to seven prior to the end of the third quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter Wells forced multiple turnovers and earned a large lead.  As time ran out Wells was on top, 70-54.
 
The Saxons shot 21-of-66 (31.8%) from the field and 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the free throw stripe.  AU only managed 3-of-17 shots from long distance during the game.
 
The Saxons (0-1, E8 0-0) have a quick turnaround, playing Mount Saint Mary College (NY) tomorrow (Saturday November, 14) at 4PM.
