Unbeaten run for Tommies ends in Elite 8

Junior Sydney Moss scored 25 of her game-high 35 points in the second half to lead No. 1-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) to a 75-58 home victory over No. 2 St. Thomas in Saturday's NCAA quarterfinal round women's basketball playoff game before a capacity crowd of 1,200 in Crestview Hills, Ky.
The Saints (31-0), Division III's top scoring team at 86 ppg, advanced to their first Final Four. They trailed UST 31-28 at halftime but made 16-of-18 free throws as part of a 47-point second half. 
Moss added nine rebounds and four assists for the Saints, who had only 10 turnovers.
Senior Anna Smith scored a career-high 21 points and added nine boards for the Tommies (30-1), who were denied in their bid to make the program's sixth Final Four appearance.
Senior Jenna Dockter scored 11 points, while senior Alyssa Favilla added eight points and 10 rebounds.
Smith, Dockter and Elaine Warner all fouled out for UST.
St. Thomas seniors Maggie Weiers and Hannah Hughes left Friday's Sweet 16 win over Hope in the first half with knee injuries. Hughes was unable to go. Weiers, a 1,400-point career scorer, played only four minutes on Saturday and had no points and two rebounds but was unable to continue due to her injury.
