#1 Farmingdale State - 46, #4 Mount Saint Mary - 43

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior guard Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) hit the game-winning 3 as time expired leading Farmingdale State to a 46-43 victory over Mount Saint Mary this evening. With the win, the Rams advance to the championship game versus #2 Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday.

Leading 15-13 with less than 10:01 remaining in the first half, Farmingdale State used an 8-0 run over the next 4:20 to extend their advantage to 10, 23-13. Each team scored four points over the final 5:41 of the half as the Rams took a 27-17 lead into the break. Junior forward Nailah Cherry (Roosevelt, N.Y.) recorded eight points for FSC, while freshman forward Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) had 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Knights.

The Rams held a 38-28 advantage with 7:51 remaining, before six straight Mount Saint Mary points cut their deficit to 38-34.

After a Desvignes free-throw put Farmingdale State ahead by five, Rini converted a pair at the line and freshman Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) went 1-for-2 to pull the Knights within two, 39-37, with 3:42 left to play.

Leading 41-39 with 1:48 left on the clock, Desvignes hit a layup to extend the Rams lead back to four. The Knights answered with back-to-back jump shots by Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) and Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) to tie the game at 43-43 with 58 seconds remaining.

After a pair of offensive rebounds and a Mount Saint Mary foul, Desvignes connected on the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired leading Farmingdale State to the Skyline Finals.

Desvinges recorded a team-high 16 points, while junior forward Marlaina Sherman (Miller Place, N.Y.) had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cherry and junior forward Amanda Masson (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) each pitched in with eight points in the victory.

The Knights were led by Rini who had a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 15 rebounds.

The Rams next will host #2 Mount Saint Vincent in the conference finals on Saturday, February 28th at 3:30 p.m.
